The primary mission of Florence County Emergency Medical Services is to aid those who experience medical emergencies or traumatic injuries by providing rapid response, appropriate pre-hospital care, and safe, rapid transport to an appropriate hospital.

Florence County Emergency Medical Services (FCEMS) is the primary provider of EMS to the residents and visitors of Florence County, South Carolina. We staff a minimum of ten advanced life support (ALS) ambulances at all times from our seven stations. We have ninety-five full-time employees and approximately twelve part-time / PRN employees.

The Florence County EMS service area encompasses 800 square miles containing a population of approximately 140,000 people.

The Total EMS calls for 2023 exceeded 28,000 incidents, and as of September 2024, we have already surpassed 20,000 incidents. FCEMS is projected to exceed 29,000 calls for service for 2024.

All requests for EMS are routed to Florence County Central Dispatch via enhanced 911, prioritized, and dispatched to the appropriate EMS unit.
