November 2006 Pretty ugly
almost head-on. |

March 2007 Another almost
direct head-on accident. |

February 2007 Another rollover.
This continues on the next row. |

February 2007 This and panel to
right are the same rollover. |

February 2007 The rest of the
story, another vehicle involved. |

February 2007 Same accident.
Though the airbag did work, look
at the small space left for the
passenger to fit in as the vehicle
crushed in. |

February 2007 Look at all the
broken glass from the windshield
of this SUV. No seatbelts means
that you get thrown into it. |

March 2007 This local hotel room
was struck by the vehicle in the
next panel to the right. |

March 2007 This vehicle hit a
wall and went partially into a
Hotel room. Note the large air
unit in the back seat that pushed
forward on the driver. |

March 2006 Too fast, hit a bump,
lost control, land in the ditch. This
car is actually resting on a pipe,
that is holding it up over a ditch
filled with 8 feet of water. |
May 2006 This car fought with
a train. The train always wins. |

November 2006 While working
another accident, this firetruck
was struck from behind by this
car that lost control and was
spinning. It hit the truck backwards. |

November 2006 You can see the
very tight space the paramedics
had to work in. The back seat was
basically pushed into the front seat.
The children were in the space left. |

December 2006 A high speed
pursuit of felons stopped when
the driver struck a train. |

December 2006 Surprisingly,
the driver survived. The passengers
did not. |

January 2005 Rollovers seem to
be on the increase. |

January 2005 Here the driver is
removed from the vehicle. |

February 2005 This is what is left
of your vehicle after the accident
damage, and the damage caused
by cutting you out of the wreck. |

July 2004 Single vehicle, impact
with a tree completely removes
engine from it. Is there ever any
reason to drive this fast? |

March 2004 The driver of this
car is lucky. But his luck is even
better than this picture suggests.

The rest of the story. He was hit
by a tractor trailer that had been
hit by a train. He missed the train. |

But the trailer section did not.
This is the very front of the trailer
that was pulled completely off
of the truck bed. |

September 2003 This vehicle had
an estimated speed of 130mph
through a residential area. Driver
sustained severe injuries.

September 2003 This vehicle went
out of control when the elderly
driver had some type of episode.
He was trapped by the dash and
steering wheel. The elevated
position complicated the extrication
There were no occupants in the
apartment at the time.

January 2003 This side to side
impact resulting in both drivers
being entrapped in their vehicles.
Extrication was required for both.
Here, the drivers door has just
been pulled back to allow EMS
and rescue personnel to access
the driver. FCEMS Medic 3, Medic

January 2003 The other vehicle
sustained even more severe
damage. Since they were working
with the patient in the vehicle,
FCEMS workers used their
bunker gear for protection in case
of a hazard occurring during the
extricaiton. |

January 2003 Here is another
view of the fire above, showing
the evaluation area being set up
for firefighters. This was early
into the fire before firefighters
started being affected by the
prolonged work effort. It was
also a cool, wet and windy day,
which provided several other
challenges to correctly manage
firefighter rehabilitation. |
August 2002 Just off a busy
highway. Head on accident claims
life of two, though this patient
initially survived. Here you can
get an idea of the close spaces
that paramedics and rescue
personnel have to work in. The
paramedic has made entry into
the passenger side to work on
the patient during extrication.

June 28, 2002 An accident that
involved a car and truck resulted
in this power pole and transformer
being knocked down. It was
thought that the power was off,
but the driver of the truck could
not be safely removed until the
fire department confirmed this. A
good illustration of some of the
dangers emergency workers face.
Family members were frantic to
remove the driver, and had to be
held back by law enforcement
for their own safety. Driver ended
up having no real injures.
