Crews responded to a call for a crane
operator having chest pains, still up in the crane on the left. This is
over 12 stories up in the air, where the additions to the McLeod Women's
Center are being made.
The crane company had a plan in place for
such a contingency. They quickly connected a materials bucket to the
other crane. Paramedic Crewchief Ron Cain was then lifted in that bucket
up to the crane platform where the operator was having difficulty. After
the patient was assessed, and beginning treatment was started, he was
moved to the bucket to be lowered to the ground.
Here they are almost on the ground, ready to
be helped by waiting Fire and EMS personnel. Thanks to good pre-planning
by the crane company, this rescue was carried out in a very speedy
manner.
