Medic 7 to go online starting January 6, 2001

A newly staffed unit, Medic 7, will start normal operations on January 6, 2001. This will be a unit to supplement the call load at the present hardest run station, Medic 2, the main Florence Station.

This unit will be a new startup, with personnel moved over from the QRV fleet and new hires. This will be a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week unit, responding to all calls in the main Florence area alternately with Medic 2.

The continued increase in the call load in the Florence area has meant that on many occasions, Medic 1 or Medic 3 have had to cover calls for Medic 2, which was already on a call. Adding an additional unit will allow the calls in the main Florence area to be covered quicker, and allow these outlying units to remain in their normal operational areas.

The unit will be a full Advanced Life Support unit. It will be manned by a Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician or Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician at all times. Present plans are for unit 2115, which is one of our first remounted Type I units from Trans-Med, to be assigned to this position. The Acting Senior Crew Chief for this station will be Lydia Thiele. The presently assigned crews are:

Crew Chief Crew Member
Lydia Thiele Shirby Brown
Caren Turbeville Nicki Anderson
Jamie Cheek Tommy Jones
