On September 12, 2000 Paramedic Stiver Powell was promoted to Corporal by Colonel Gary Horn,  Director of Florence County Emergency Medical Services.

Cpl. Powell was hired by Florence County EMS in June, 2000, moving here from Horry County EMS where he worked as a paramedic for 2 1/2 yrs. His career began in August ,1988, originally at Florence County EMS. Cpl. Powell became a Paramedic in August 20, 1990. Departing Florence County EMS in 1992, he accepted the position of Assistant Transport Supervisor at McLeod Regional Medical Center Transport Services (HEART REACH TEAM).
