Florence County EMS Lifesaver

Change @ EMS

Change is in the air at EMS. Technology is giving pre-hospital emergency caregivers the ability to provide more advanced pre-hospital life support than ever before and things are changing at such a rapid rate that it is hard for us to keep up.

Just in the past couple of years an emergency dispatch program has been incorporated into our system. Although it took some getting use to we have adjusted well. There have been many other changes in the past as EMS is an ever changing world. There are multitudes of new ideas and products out there, some of which are already in use and some just being put on the market.

One of the many things that FCEMS has been researching is a more advanced cardiac monitor that will give us the capability to perform 12 lead electrocardiograms as well as end tidal C02 detection, pulse oximetry, and continuous blood pressure monitoring in the field.

Change is a vital part of maintaining the ability to provide the best care possible to the citizens.
