The Information Technology (IT) division of the Florence County Administrative Office provides a variety of professional information technology (IT) services to all County departments. The division's mission is to provide cost-effective, efficient and coordinated data processing and communications services for all County departments, with a major emphasis on those departments that have direct interaction with the public.

The primary IT services provided include:
  • Providing 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week computer operations and systems support
  • Administering and supporting the following systems:
    • The County's mainframe
    • The County's Wide Area Network (WAN)
    • Local area networks (LAN) for all County departments
    • The County’s Audio Visual system in council chambers and live/archive web streaming
    • The County's e-mail system
    • The County's public Web site (www.florenceco.org) and Intranet site
  • Providing departments with access to Internet services
  • Developing/maintaining large computerized business systems
  • Coordinating large multi-departmental automation projects
  • Developing browser-based (Web) applications for the County Web site and Intranet
  • Developing and maintaining Web page content for the County Web site and Intranet
  • Creating and maintaining technology contracts
